Glazing for Noise Insulation - A Modern Case Study Heliport
House - London SW11 Heliport House is the commercial
building on Battersea's Westland Heliport. The Heliport has been operating
since 1959 for both business and leisure customers and now also provides services
to Police Air Support units and the Air Ambulance. Spread over four
floors the building is in one of the noisiest spots in London when the helicopters
are landing and taking off between the hours of 7.00am and 11.00pm daily.
Noise
had been an ongoing problem for the occupants of Heliport House for many years
despite the sealed unit double glazing fitted throughout the building.
We first fitted our range of specialist Noise Reduction Secondary Glazing to part
of the building during September 2004 - following the success of this initial
project we were quickly contracted to carry out two further phases during November
and December of the same year. All units were glazed with 6.4mm Stadip
® Silence laminated glass imported from the St. Gobain Glass
Company in France. Stadip ® Silence glass has
a clear PVB interlayer specially formulated and patented to cut down noise transmission.
